Job Description:
We are seeking an experienced Education Support Specialist to join our team at a good-rated school in the Bourne End area. The successful candidate will have a passion for working with students with hearing impairments and a commitment to providing a nurturing and inclusive environment.
Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with teachers to create and deliver activities that meet the needs of students with hearing impairments
* Develop and implement Individual Education Plans, Risk Assessments, and Personal Care and Therapy Care programmes for designated students
* Work with teachers, other support staff, families, and external agencies to provide comprehensive support
* Establish therapeutic relationships with students and interact with them according to individual needs
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children with hearing impairments or a willingness to work with this population
* Good knowledge of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and a passion for developing this area of expertise
* Ability to commit to working fixed days, full or part-time
* Makaton training
* NVQ in Childcare and Education or Supporting Teaching and Learning Schools
* British Sign Language Level 1-3
* Phonics experience (if pupils fitted with cochlear implant)
* Experience of developing independence in young people
* Experience of supporting social and emotional development
* Clear and valid DBS on the update service or willingness to obtain one
