Senior Theoretical Scientist Role at AWE



Are you a motivated and experienced Theoretical Scientist looking for a new challenge? We have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team at the Atomic Weapons Establishment (AWE) as a Senior Theoretical Scientist. In this role, you will play a key part in exercising and improving capability in understanding nuclear warhead effects and environments in support of the UK's nuclear deterrent, Trident, and national nuclear security projects.

Salary:We offer a competitive salary of £65,000 - £85,000 per annum.

Job Description:
This role involves:
  • Undertaking advanced research in nuclear warhead effects and environments
  • Developing and applying computational models to understand complex phenomena
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to identify and address technical challenges
  • Maintaining and developing expertise in relevant scientific fields
  • Providing expert advice and guidance to stakeholders
  • Leading and mentoring junior scientists and engineers

Requirements:
  • Postgraduate degree in a relevant scientific or STEM discipline
  • Proven track record of advancing scientific knowledge and addressing technical challenges
  • Strong leadership and communication skills
  • Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment
