We are seeking a highly motivated Freight Forwarding Specialist to join our team in Bristol. As a key member of our AFR Export Team, you will be responsible for managing and coordinating air freight shipments.
Job DescriptionThe successful candidate will have experience within the Freight Forwarding Industry, with a strong understanding of HMRC procedures and commercial awareness. They will also possess excellent communication skills, both written and spoken, and be able to work effectively across teams.
Responsibilities will include:
- Adhering to Customs Compliance procedures and documentation
- Managing and building customer relationships
- Completing retrospective Customs compliance actions
- Customs entry for Specialist License movements
- Ensuring the Job File is fully and accurately completed reflecting all commercially relevant information and services provided
- Liaising directly with Carriers and Handling Agents to resolve exceptions and discrepancies as they arise
- Liaising directly with DGF departments on shipment planning and coordination
- Liaising directly with DGF Transport & Warehouse teams on shipment planning and coordination
- Liaising directly with overseas offices on shipment planning and coordination
- Maintaining and updating DfT compliance
- Maintaining mandatory milestones and remarks through Cargowise (internal system)
- Managing allocated customers against agreed SOP
- Using Cargowise to create, manage and maintain Airfreight shipments
- Any other duties as required
- Supporting the measurement of Key Performance Indicators
- Contributing to the First Choice continuous improvement program
- Participating in the Weekly Team briefing sessions
- Completing all statutory and mandatory training
Person Specification:
- Experience within the Freight Forwarding Industry
- 5 GCSEs including Maths and English at Grade C or above – or equivalent desirable
- Experience of HMRC procedures
- Commercial awareness
- Clear and concise communication skills (written and spoken)
- Ability to follow processes
- Ability to support a culture of continuous improvement
- Inter-personal skills - Influencing, communication, relationship management, cultural awareness and ability to work across teams
- Knowledge of Freight Forwarding industry: Exports, exports and related processes
