About the Role

CHEC is seeking an experienced Audiologist to join our team on a sessional basis. As an Audiologist, you will be responsible for conducting hearing assessments of adults of all ages, including history taking and discussion with patients and/or caregivers as required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Undertake hearing assessments of adults of all ages, including audiometry, tympanometry, and acoustic reflex testing.
  • Conduct hearing aid assessments, fittings, validations, and ongoing support of adults and families.
  • Take aural impressions on patients of all ages, according to British Society of Audiology recommended procedures.
  • Undertake hearing aid validation using Real Ear Measurement systems, RECD, and free field testing as appropriate.
  • Actively promote a patient-focused approach and apply such principles throughout the service.
  • Liaise with external agencies, such as Cochlear implant teams, as required.
  • Modify NHS hearing aids and ear moulds as necessary.
  • Attend regular update meetings and training courses as required.
  • Maintain patient records and assist in the maintenance of appropriate stock levels.

Requirements

  • BSc. Audiology or equivalent qualification, eligible for registration with RCCP.
  • One year undergraduate placement in an Audiology Department or one year experience of working in NHS audiology.
  • Ability to work autonomously and as part of a team.
  • Ability to communicate complex clinical information to the hearing impaired, their families, and carers.
  • Ability to use computerized patient management systems.
  • Good time management and organizational skills.
  • Theoretical knowledge of digital hearing aid fitting.
