Job Description

Prodrive Advanced Technology (AT) is a leading provider of electromechanical control systems and mechanical system architectures for various industries, including automotive, defense, marine, and renewable energy. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Operations Engineer to lead the introduction of new production programs from bid development to series production.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Accountable for the introduction of new manufacturing programs from bid development to series production, ensuring they deliver margin, quality, and schedule targets.
  • Define and implement production program timing, including milestones, gateways, and build schedule.
  • Responsible for coordinating the Production quality planning and quality control team to comply with all project requirements.
  • APQP - Advanced Product Quality Planning to verify product and process design, including supply chain planning.
  • PPAP - Production Part Approval Process to verify Quality and capacity targets can be met with design and manufacturing processes.
  • Working with the Manufacturing Engineering, Procurement, Quality, and Logistics teams to ensure Production requirements for new products meet program Cost, Timing & Quality requirements.
  • Define Health and Safety requirements, Risk assessments, and PPE for NPI.
  • Working with the relevant Engineering team(s) throughout the design and development phase to series production to ensure plans for the delivery of production Facilities, Production tooling, rigs, jigs, and fixtures, manufacturing processes, End of Line Test, and quality approval processes are in place to support a successful Production launch.
  • Working with the relevant Engineering and Quality team(s), Define inbound and outbound inspection, traceability, and part marking requirements.
  • Responsible for resourcing planning for pre-production builds and production launch.
  • Lead design/manufacturing reviews and drive design teams to complete DFM to achieve build financial targets.
  • Working with Programs, MRP, and Purchase team, ensure the Production MRP structure is aligned with agreed production ramp and future scheduling demands, ensuring build components and material are available to support planned build schedules.
  • Working with Logistics and Manufacturing Engineers, define inbound and outbound packaging and delivery plans.
  • Working with Logistics and Material manager, define inbound and outbound stores layout and facility requirements.
  • Coordination of the production team to ensure on-time delivery, actively driving timely resolution of build issues, Interim Containment Actions, and Permanent Corrective Actions.
  • Collaborative engagement with the senior engineering management team to effectively optimize resource and skills utilization.

Requirements:

  • Degree in Engineering or equivalent relevant industry experience.
  • Experience in launching new products or processes, particularly in high-stakes environments (automotive, aerospace).
  • Significant level of both commercial and operational experience to deliver program Quality, Cost, and Timing objectives.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as machining, assembly, welding, etc., and Manufacturing assembly processes, build instructions, and control methods, assembly tooling and equipment, including End of Line Test.
  • ERP Systems: Familiarity with Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) systems, particularly in relation to manufacturing and supply chain management.
  • Problem-Solving & Analytical Skills: Ability to troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
  • Project Management: Experience managing multiple projects or working in a project-based environment. Familiarity with tools like MS Project is a plus.
  • Lean Manufacturing & Continuous Improvement: Certification in Six Sigma (Green/Black Belt) is a bonus.
  • Quality Assurance: Familiarity with quality management systems (QMS) such as ISO 9001, and quality assurance tools such as FMEA (Failure Modes and Effects Analysis) and SPC (Statistical Process Control).
