Job Title: Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

At Leonardo, we are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to join our Software Quality Assurance Team in Edinburgh. This is an exciting opportunity to work on cutting-edge defence and aerospace projects, supporting the business during a period of growth in Edinburgh.

The successful candidate will be based across a range of Leonardo Business Products within our state-of-the-art Edinburgh facility, working directly with engineering teams and internal project teams and customers.

The salary range for this role is £48,000 - £58,000 per year.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide independent software assurance support to the development and release of software, verifying it meets contracted and company standards.
  2. Create and maintain software quality assurance plans in accordance with contractual conditions and company standards.
  3. Estimate software quality assurance resources required to support projects.
  4. Assess the ability of subcontracted companies to perform software development to required standards.
  5. Assess projects for compliance with software development plans and processes.
  6. Participate in software lifecycle reviews.
  7. Perform software conformity reviews and physical/functional configuration audits.
  8. Verify the release of deliverable software.
Requirements:
  1. Knowledge and practical experience of software quality.
  2. Further education and experience ideally in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or experience in Defence Electronics or similarly complex industries.
  3. Be a logical thinker, capable of harvesting complex data into actions with practical solutions that support business goals.
  4. Have good interpersonal skills and a collaborative working style across all functions of the business.
Desirable Skills:
  1. Demonstrate knowledge within the areas of AS9100 / ISO9001 and Continuous improvement.
  2. Have demonstrated experience working in high-precision manufacturing environments.
  3. An Airborne software background, with good working knowledge of software standards RTCA/DO-178C, AS9115, and AQAP-2210.
