Environmental Officer Job Description

Our client, a leading manufacturing company, is seeking an experienced Environmental Officer to join their team. This role is crucial for managing and enhancing the company's environmental management systems, ensuring compliance with environmental regulations, and driving sustainability initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and Implement Environmental Policies: Create and maintain environmental policies and programs in line with ISO 14001 standards, ensuring compliance with local, national, and international regulations.
  • Conduct Environmental Audits and Assessments: Identify areas for improvement and implement corrective actions to reduce waste, emissions, and energy consumption throughout the manufacturing process.
  • Lead Sustainability Initiatives: Collaborate with various departments to integrate environmental considerations into business decisions, reducing the company's environmental footprint.
  • Monitor and Report Environmental Performance: Prepare detailed reports for senior management, highlighting areas of improvement and progress towards sustainability goals.
  • Provide Training and Support: Educate employees on environmental issues and best practices, ensuring a culture of sustainability within the organization.
  • Liaise with Regulatory Bodies: Communicate with external stakeholders regarding environmental matters, ensuring ongoing compliance and improvement.
Qualifications:
  • Education: Bachelor's degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum of 3 years of experience in environmental position, preferably in the manufacturing sector.
  • Skills: In-depth knowledge of ISO 14001 standards, experience with ISO 9001 quality management systems, and proven track record of successful environmental and sustainability projects.
  • Certification: Certification in environmental management (e.g., NEBOSH Environmental Diploma) is a plus.
