Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Manufacturing Engineer to join our Manufacturing Engineering Team based in Glenrothes. This role reports to the Manufacturing Engineering Manager and is responsible for managing and maintaining business process systems to support production, maximizing efficiencies, and improving labour utilization.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and maintain business process systems to support production, maximizing efficiencies and improving labour utilization.
  • Drive and improve product quality through ensuring process standards, procedures, and specifications are in place for all equipment and processes.
  • Develop relationships with OEMs to stay up-to-date with manufacturing technologies aligned to capacity and new product development road maps.
  • Lead and support cross-functional LEAN/Six Sigma projects to improve manufacturing processes and systems.
  • Develop best practice tools and skills within Manufacturing Engineering to deliver a best-in-class manufacturing operation.
  • Utilize appropriate modelling and analytical tools to analyze performance and introduce improvements.
  • Manage the team towards providing support and guidance to production personnel on processing tasks.
  • Provide engineering input to manufacturing issues and guidance/advice on any equipment improvement initiatives, ensuring resilience is built into the manufacturing equipment.
  • Execute improvement activity in line with the engineering budget.
  • Work collaboratively with all manufacturing and support functions to deliver performance improvement and provide robust solutions to any manufacturing challenge.
  • Manage all manufacturing engineering documentation and ensure it is kept up-to-date.
  • Utilize the use of contractors where internal resource is limited.
  • Regular audits of process quality, BOMs, and routings to ensure compliance with Leviton standards.
  • Drive and maintain EHS responsibilities, monitoring adherence in the Manufacturing Engineering function, ensuring department staff work in a safe and secure manner for both themselves and other factory personnel.
  • Manage engineering personnel, including absence, holiday management, overtime, training, mentoring, and multi-skilling, to ensure maximum coverage in support of factory shift systems.
  • Build a strong, capable, and confident team to ensure a continuous improvement culture is developed within manufacturing engineering.
  • Operate to the highest ethical standards and conduct business with integrity, undertaking all business within a culture of honesty, fairness, and legal compliance.
Requirements:
  • Relevant Engineering Degree (preferred) or HND Level 5.
  • Experience required in a Manufacturing environment is essential.
  • Experience in Cable/Fibre Optic Industry desirable.
  • Experience of implementing LEAN Manufacturing principles.
  • Strong MS Office.
  • Excellent Presentation skills, for presentation of project proposals to both external and internal customers.
  • Excellent organisational and planning skills coupled with good time management skills.
  • Excellent Project Management skills and the ability to work to tight deadlines.
