About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Compliance Auditor to join our team at BCL Legal in Newcastle. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to take their career to the next level.

The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in ensuring that practices, records, and controls are in strict compliance with regulations and accreditation requirements.

  1. Conduct Quality Audits: Plan and conduct monthly quality audits on fee earners, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards.
  2. Risk Assessment and Evaluation: Perform thorough risk assessments and internal control evaluations, reporting any discrepancies.
  3. Quality Log Maintenance: Create and maintain a comprehensive quality log, identifying trends and training needs.
  4. Collaboration and Liaison: Collaborate and liaise with stakeholders to calibrate audits, implement best practices, and drive performance improvements.
  5. Data Analysis: Analyse historical data to develop quality improvement initiatives and strategies.
  6. Audit Findings and Implementation: Evaluate audit findings and ensure the implementation of corrective actions in collaboration with supervisors.
  7. Team Collaboration: Contribute to team meetings with insightful communications and manage firm-wide performance.
  8. Regulatory Interpretations: Execute interpretations of regulatory requirements and quality standards.
  9. Audit Execution: Ensure random and focused audits are performed and completed promptly.
  10. Report Preparation: Prepare detailed quality reports for senior management and other key stakeholders.
  11. External Audit Support: Assist the Head of Risk and Compliance and COLP with preparations for external audits and compliance assessments.
  12. Remedial Actions: Monitor the implementation of external audit recommendations and execute remedial actions.
  13. Industry Knowledge: Stay informed about the latest sector regulations and best practices in internal auditing.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have experience in a regulated environment, preferably within the legal sector. The ideal candidate will possess excellent analytical and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.

Salary Information

The estimated salary for this role is £40,000 - £55,000 per annum, depending on experience. We offer a competitive benefits package, including professional development opportunities, flexible working arrangements, and a supportive team environment.
