About the Role

We are seeking a skilled Workshop Engineer to join our team at SMT GB. This is a challenging opportunity for someone to utilize their technical expertise in maintaining and repairing heavy construction plant, ensuring high standards of quality and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain and repair Volvo construction equipment and miscellaneous equipment as required.
  2. Carry out all work in line with quotations and time guides, highlighting additional work requirements to management where necessary.
  3. Maintain a personal toolkit to enable effective job completion.
  4. Educate yourself on new software updates and ensure timely installation.
  5. Accurately complete paperwork, including oil sample reports and service inspection reports.
  6. Complete electronic time registration inputs in real-time, providing comprehensive details of work undertaken.
  7. Order parts as necessary and return them in clean condition upon job completion.
  8. Flexibility to work overtime as required.
  9. Pursue relevant product or systems training courses to enhance technical competence.
  10. Adhere to SMT GB's ISO standards of health, safety, quality, and environmental care.
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will require:

  • A formal engineering qualification in Plant Maintenance, Agricultural/HGV mechanics.
  • Relevant experience in heavy construction plant repair and maintenance.
  • Proven technical competence on diesel engines, transmissions, drive lines, hydraulics, and electronics.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with colleagues, management, and customers.
  • A cost-conscious mindset to maximize profitability.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and diagnostic skills.
  • Basic IT skills.
  • High standards and attention to detail.
  • Conscientious approach to all aspects of the job.
  • Reliability, honesty, and trustworthiness.
  • Ability to comprehend technical literature, including service bulletins and parts books.

The estimated salary for this role is £35,000-£45,000 per annum, dependent on experience.
