Pharmacy Coordinator

The Pharmacy Coordinator will be responsible for the joint coordination of the BRI inpatient pharmacy and the sole coordination of Pharmacy Distribution/Medicines Optimisation services. The role will be split 50/50 between the two service areas listed above.
Main Duties of the JobAssist the pharmacy manager with the training of all staff, including encouraging and organising attendance on relevant recognised courses (NVQ, Buttercups/Bradford etc). Assist with the recruitment of pharmacy staff in line with Trust policies and procedures. Ensure appropriate levels of staff cover by being involved in annual leave approval and study leave. Responsible for arranging regular destruction of controlled drugs with a representative of the Trust Board in attendance and maintaining monthly CD stock checks. Assist the pharmacy manager/operations manager and the pharmacy support services manager with monitoring workload and ensure workload is managed consistently throughout the day by the effective deployment of staff.

Person SpecificationQualifications
Essential
- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with GPhC
- Accreditation in Final Accuracy Checking and Medicines Optimisation
- Evidence of continued professional development
Desirable
- In possession of a Management or Leadership qualification
- A qualified NVQ/TAQA
Knowledge
Essential
- Recent NHS hospital pharmacy experience as a pharmacy technician in a range of roles within pharmacy such as medicines dispensing, procurement and supply procedures and practices
- Understanding of confidentiality and how to apply
Desirable
- Experience of managing/supervising other pharmacy staff
- Experience of writing standard operating procedures
