Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Environmental Sustainability Specialist to join our team at Taylor Hopkinson | Powered by Brunel. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the operation of existing generating assets and the development of new projects for both tidal and battery energy storage systems.


Key Responsibilities
  1. Ensure compliance with existing consent conditions and regulations.
  2. Act as the Environmental Clerk of Work for projects and serve as the primary point of contact with the Marine Directorate.
  3. Review, audit, and generate project documents as prescribed in Section 36 and Marine Licence consent conditions.
  4. Maintain project Consent registers for all projects, ensuring they are up-to-date and accurate.
  5. Support the development of consent applications for BESS projects in England, Scotland, and Wales, as well as the expansion of Tidal Array projects.
  6. Contribute to the management of Health, Safety & Environmental risks across all operating locations.
  7. Develop and maintain collaborative working relationships with stakeholders to improve environmental risks and impacts.
  8. Attend marine works aboard Offshore Construction Vessels as the Environmental Clerk of Work, supporting the O&M Manager.
  9. Support project development across the portfolio, including Tidal Stream and BESS.

Requirements
  1. Education to degree level in a relevant discipline, with a second degree and/or practical experience being advantageous.
  2. Knowledge of consent processes and legislation relevant to project activities in the UK, including BESS & Tidal Array.
  3. Familiarity with statutory reports for Section 36 and Marine Licences.
  4. A strong desire to deliver a renewable and sustainable energy industry that considers environmental impact and stakeholder engagement.
  5. Ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplined team.
  6. Clear and concise written and oral communication skills.
  7. An attention to detail and proficiency in writing procedures and quality documentation.
  8. A proactive approach to working and learning.
  9. Willingness to work in a dynamic environment, responding to changing demands to deliver project objectives.
  10. Ability to take the initiative, make sound decisions, and bring action.
  11. Comfortable working under pressure to meet deadlines.
