Job Title: Material Controller

We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive individual to join our team as a Material Controller. In this role, you will be responsible for the storage, maintenance, and management of components and raw materials, ensuring all processes align with best practices and operational procedures.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Storage and Inventory Management: Manage storage and identification of components and raw materials, adhering to batch control, stock rotation, and first-in-first-out principles.
  • Operational Support: Support the Stores and Purchasing functions to ensure smooth operations.
  • Stock Control and Issuing: Use the company's ERP system for stock control, issuing items via pick lists, and tracking consumables.
  • Kit Shortages and Procurement: Identify and resolve kit shortages, working closely with the Purchasing department to prevent production delays.
  • Procurement Responsibilities: Handle procurement responsibilities for specific product groups.
  • Material Control: Oversee the control of materials sent for sub-contract processing.
  • Cycle Counts and Stock Levels: Conduct regular cycle counts to ensure accurate stock levels.
  • Collaboration and Communication: Collaborate with Purchasing, Quality, and Production teams to avoid material stock-outs or quality issues.
  • Production Meetings and Documentation: Attend daily production meetings to assist in planning daily activities and collate and provide product documentation (e.g., material certificates, test reports) as needed.
  • Administrative Support: Provide cover for the Storeman during holidays or sickness and perform general administration, housekeeping, and stock-taking duties as required.
Qualifications and Skills:
  • Previous Experience: Previous experience in a stores or inventory role within a fast-paced manufacturing environment is advantageous.
  • ERP System Knowledge: Working knowledge of ERP systems is beneficial (training will be provided).
  • Computer Literacy: Computer literacy and familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, etc.).
  • Forklift License: Forklift license is preferred; training will be provided if not currently held.
  • Willingness to Learn: Applicants must be willing to undertake forklift training if necessary.
