Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Grounds Supervisor to join our team at Leeds Castle. As a key member of our Estate Operations team, you will be responsible for the management and maintenance of our Grade II* listed parkland, woodland gardens, pastureland, woodlands, and other areas of the estate.
Key Responsibilities:
- Supervise the work of the Grounds Team, ensuring that all tasks are completed to a high standard and in accordance with our estate's conservation and maintenance policies.
- Manage the maintenance of waterways throughout the estate, including the upkeep of canals, rivers, and ponds.
- Oversee the maintenance of grassed areas, including the management of grass growth, mowing, and fertilization.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve habitats and support the conservation of flora and fauna within the estate.
- Work closely with the Events and Operations teams to ensure that all events and activities are supported by effective estate operations.
- Ensure that all work is carried out safely and in accordance with our health and safety policies.
- Provide strong support to the Estate Manager and other members of the Estate Operations team.
Requirements:
- Proven experience in grounds maintenance and management, preferably in a similar role or within a conservation or estate management context.
- Strong knowledge of conservation and estate management principles and practices.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and direct a team.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible and adaptable approach to work.
- Highly organized and able to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Ability to work at heights and in challenging weather conditions.
