We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at Alexander Dennis. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for driving continuous improvement and ensuring the highest quality standards in our manufacturing processes.
Key Responsibilities- Provide Design for Manufacturing feedback during New Product Development to ensure seamless production.
- Ensure Pre-Production Readiness is completed in line with Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) to minimize production downtime.
- Design and improve the layout of build lines and workstations to optimize efficiency and productivity.
- Serve as the technical expert for manufacturing processes, providing guidance and support to production teams.
- Ensure the latest tooling, process equipment, patterns, jigs, and gauges are available to support production needs.
- Apply Lean methodologies to identify and eliminate waste, improving overall production efficiency.
- Provide hands-on manufacturing support with process faults, ensuring prompt resolution and minimal downtime.
- Problem-solve complex issues using A3, 8D, and Lean Six Sigma methodologies to drive continuous improvement.
- Create and maintain Standard Operating Procedures to ensure consistency and quality across production processes.
- Trial new methods and tooling, reporting out recommendations to improve production efficiency.
- Support Production Change Control (Spec Amends, MODs, and ECNs) to ensure seamless implementation of changes.
- Lead and support projects from business case to project sign-off, driving successful outcomes and continuous improvement.
- Engineering degree or equivalent experience in a relevant discipline.
- Mechanical or electrical manufacturing engineering skills, with a strong understanding of both disciplines.
- Proven success within a similar role, with a track record of driving continuous improvement and quality excellence.
- Continuous Improvement experience, with a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent certification.
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI), project management, and problem-solving.
- Proficiency in CAD packages such as Solid Edge, Teamcenter, and AutoCAD LT.
- Skilled in IT tools and change management, with the ability to meet deadlines and adapt to changing priorities.
