Assistant Practice Manager Job Description

Swift Placements is supporting our client, a law firm based in Birkenhead, in recruiting an Assistant Practice Manager to join their team on a full-time permanent basis.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage day-to-day operations of the practice, reporting to the Partners.
  • Handle all aspects of HR, including recruitment, onboarding, training, appraisals, and payroll.
  • Oversee financial month-end and bank reconciliations, as well as VAT returns.
  • Manage facilities, such as office maintenance and IT/systems usage.
  • Review policies and procedures to ensure compliance with new legislations and accreditations.
  • Review client satisfaction questionnaires to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Undertake file reviews to identify weaknesses and training issues.
  • Market and negotiate to achieve savings.
  • Update and add forms and precedents for the firm's case management system.
  • Conduct fee earner and cost reviews.
  • Renew accreditations and Practising Certificates.
  • Assist with firm audits.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • Previous experience managing teams and operations.
  • Previous experience within the legal sector is preferred.
  • Strong financial knowledge.
  • Proficiency in using Microsoft Office packages.
  • Proactive and good organisational skills.
  • Excellent organisational skills to manage multiple tasks and deadlines effectively.
  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
