Senior Systems Engineering Manager

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Systems Engineering Manager to join our team at BAE Systems in Warton, Preston.

This is a hybrid-working role of 3 days per week required on site, and you must be eligible for security clearance (SC) to be considered for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement engineering operating frameworks and governance systems, including policies and processes for the design and development phase of programmes.
  • Create an internal assurance framework to ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Airworthiness Team to support design organisation approvals and the appointment of technical roles.
  • Act as a focal point for engineering governance between the joint business entity and the UK industry Lead Systems Integrator.
  • Work closely with the COO Central Engineering Governance team to share best practice and activity support.
  • Lead a small team of engineers and manage their performance, talent development, and task management.
Requirements:
  • Degree qualified in a STEM subject or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience in engineering governance on Defence programmes.
  • Experience in creating and applying engineering processes, tools, and approaches for creative solutions while meeting governance requirements.
  • Previous experience managing a small team, task management, performance reviews, and talent management.
Desirable Skills:
  • Knowledge of engineering governance principles, ideally gained from at least 2 different areas.
  • Experience in working with at least one external Customer.
