Fairhurst is seeking a highly skilled Senior Geotechnical Design Engineer to join our Edinburgh office. As a key member of our team, you will have the opportunity to work on a diverse range of projects across various sectors, including renewable energy, transportation, and construction.

About the Role

The successful candidate will have extensive experience in geotechnical design, particularly in challenging ground conditions. You will be responsible for undertaking detailed geotechnical analysis and design, preparing geotechnical desk studies and interpretative reports, and conducting site investigations.

Responsibilities
  1. Conduct site walkovers and foundation inspections to identify potential issues and develop effective solutions;
  2. Collect, manipulate, and interpret geotechnical and chemical data from site investigations to inform project decisions;
  3. Prepare comprehensive geotechnical desk studies and interpretative reports to support project development;
  4. Design, procure, and supervise site investigations to ensure accurate data collection and analysis;
  5. Develop and implement geotechnical designs that meet or exceed client expectations, adhering to Eurocodes and other relevant standards;
  6. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate geotechnical expertise into project deliverables;
Requirements
  • A minimum of 2 years post-graduate experience in geotechnical engineering, preferably in a similar role;
  • An MSc in Geotechnical Engineering or a related field would be advantageous;
  • Proficiency in GI Data Management Software, such as Holebase or GInt, is desirable;
  • Excellent communication and reporting skills, with the ability to present complex technical information to non-technical stakeholders;
  • Experience working in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with multiple projects and deadlines;
