Job Title: Principal Engineer - Configuration and Release Controller

Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements - please speak to your recruiter about the options for this role.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Support the development of the configuration management plan and ensure its effective implementation.
  • Collaborate with the team to design and maintain configuration management and release processes.
  • Discharge configuration management activities in accordance with the plan and ensure compliance with relevant standards.
  • Identify, produce, release, and deliver software products to internal and external customers.
  • Support the definition, implementation, and maintenance of stakeholder configuration management requirements.
  • Participate in configuration audit activities, including FCA/PCA.
  • Coach and mentor the configuration management team to ensure their skills and knowledge are up-to-date.
  • Interface with the platform configuration management team to ensure accurate maintenance of platform configurations.
Requirements:
  • Degree-level qualification in a relevant STEM subject (Engineering, Physics, Maths, Science) or equivalent experience.
  • Relevant configuration management standards (IEEE-828, ISO-TR-19759).
  • Practical knowledge of configuration and release management implementation.
  • Configuration management toolsets (Micro focus Dimensions).
  • Release management expertise.
Desirable Skills:
  • Registered as CEng or demonstrate eligibility and commitment to register within 12 months.
  • Systems and engineering lifecycle models (V or Waterfall).
  • Configuration auditing.
  • Process design and development.
