About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to join our team at Priory Hospital Cheadle Royal. As a Consultant Psychiatrist, you will be responsible for providing high-quality psychiatric care to inpatients on our Evergreen unit, which is a 15-bed acute mental health unit for adult male and female patients.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working as the Consultant and Responsible Clinician as part of the Multi-Disciplinary Team (MDT)
  • Take overall responsibility for patient care and treatment plans in conjunction with the MDT
  • Timely assessment of referrals along with the MDT
  • Conducting Comprehensive Assessments and Treatment Planning with patients, external stakeholders, and carers
  • Chairing MDT/CPA Meetings; Adhering to organisational admission and discharge policy and procedures
  • Timely discharge GP notifications and discharge summaries
  • To contribute to the unit governance through expertise and leadership
  • Prepare and supervise reports for Mental Health Act Review Tribunals & Managers Hearings alongside giving evidence within these meetings
  • Participate in a non-resident second on call out of hour's rota with a frequency of no more than 1:7

Requirements

  • MBBS or Equivalent Medical Degree and MRCPsych with s12/AC approval
  • Full GMC registration with license to practice
  • Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Practice
  • Committed to continued professional development
  • Desirable to have had significant experience of inpatient mental health acute units
  • Able to work collaboratively as a part of a multi-disciplinary team
