About the Role

National Grid Electricity Transmission (NGET) is a leading energy company in the UK, responsible for connecting the nation to a reliable and efficient energy supply. As an OT Software Testing and Packaging Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the effective control and operation of our network.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide software and business application support for critical Operational Technology (OT) devices, including laptop assets and applications used by operational users and suppliers.
  • Manage, maintain, and enhance the software library and suite of OT applications, collaborating with stakeholder teams during Factory Acceptance testing and type registration process.
  • Test software on the OT-PAW virtual environment and package the application with pre-requisites and configurations, maintaining an inventory of software hashes of all approved OT software.
  • Coordinate and report on any cyber incidents on original equipment manufacturer (OEM) software, proactively exploring emerging technology, software, and applications to inform the future strategic direction of the OT PAW platform.
  • Check compliance for End user license agreements and work with National Grid licensing team and commercial team to manage licenses, renew licenses, and procure new software.
Requirements
  • A background in IT or cyber security and a Level 4 qualification in cyber security, networking, or an engineering-related discipline.
  • Experience working on Cloud data libraries or on-premise data libraries.
  • Software Lifecycle management, Power BI, MS Office Suite, Data Insights platform, or similar platform experience.
  • Technical understanding of Operational Technology (OT) assets and software used in OT assets.
  • Good stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to interact with NGET operators and third-party contractors and suppliers.
