As a key member of the Amazon team, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance of electrical, mechanical, and fire/life safety equipment within our data centers. Your expertise will be instrumental in supporting Amazon's operations within its owned and operated data centers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement training programs for the Engineering team to enhance their skills in electrical and mechanical equipment troubleshooting and operations.
- Design and execute site-specific training exercises to ensure that all personnel are equipped to handle various equipment and systems.
- Oversee the day-to-day operation and maintenance of mechanical and electrical equipment in data center sites.
- Collaborate with the design and build-out teams to ensure that new facilities meet the highest standards of efficiency and reliability.
- Act as a liaison between facilities teams and other stakeholders to resolve issues and ensure seamless operations.
- Develop and deploy standard practices for Engineering Operations Technicians, Chief Engineers, and vendor support teams.
- Ensure adherence to safety procedures and protocols by vendors and AWS staff.
- Respond to off-hour emergency calls and lead the investigation, mitigation, and recovery efforts.

AWS Infrastructure Services (AIS) is responsible for designing, planning, delivering, and operating all AWS global infrastructure. We support all AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have uninterrupted access to the innovation they rely on.
You will join a diverse team of software, hardware, and network engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, operations managers, and other vital roles. Together, we will work to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing seemingly infinite capacity at the lowest possible cost for our customers.

Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree in electrical or mechanical engineering or equivalent.
- Extensive industry-related experience with in-depth knowledge of UPS, backup generator systems, and generic mechanical-room infrastructure.
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical/Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
- Several years of experience in operations and on-call support for Data Center facilities or Mission Critical Plants/Production facilities.
- Fundamental knowledge of network design and layout as well as low-voltage (copper/fibre) cabling.
