Westhill, Aberdeenshire, United Kingdom Subsea 7 Full time
About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Geotechnical Engineer to join our team at Subsea 7. As a Geotechnical Engineer, you will play a critical role in the design and execution of offshore projects, working closely with our team of experts to ensure the safe and successful delivery of our projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Complete geotechnical engineering aspects for SURF scopes, collaborating with the wider team.
  • Evaluate the quality of available site investigation data for offshore energy projects and specify site investigations when required.
  • Interpret and use offshore site investigation data, integrating results into ground models and deriving parameters for the detailed design of subsea infrastructure.
  • Undertake detailed design and installation of gravity-based, piled, and suction-installed foundations, evaluating and recommending reeled-pipe-lay initiation anchorage.
  • Use limit analysis for estimation of collapse load for foundations subject to complex loading, such as PLAXIS or OPTUM G3.
  • Perform geotechnical risk assessments and identify geo-hazards and ground risk levels.
  • Design, execute, and manage mechanical protection trenching & rock dumping scopes, completing seabed preparation analysis ahead of product/structure installation.
  • Participate in offshore assignments, such as supervising offshore site investigations, foundation installation, and mechanical protection of products, as required.
Requirements
  • Degree qualified in a relevant subject, such as Civil Engineering with a specialization in Geotechnical Engineering. A Master's level qualification would be advantageous.
  • Demonstrable role-relevant experience, with a working understanding of offshore site investigations, foundation design, product/soil interaction, and product mechanical protection aspects.
  • Practical experience of GIS data systems, such as ArcGIS and ArcMAP, is beneficial but not essential.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication skills, building and maintaining positive internal/external collaborative relationships and providing mentorship and guidance.
  • Commercially aware with effective planning and organizing skills, able to identify and effectively prioritize workload and efficiently meet multiple, often competing deadlines.
  • Highly numerate, with excellent analytical skills, and an ability to work with detail and accuracy.
  • Flexible to adapt to changing priorities within a fast-paced 24/7 global business.
  • Pro-active and solutions-based, able to understand business and client needs and develop new and innovative 'fit for purpose' solutions.
  • Committed to continuous improvement and identification of efficient work methods and processes.
  • Ability to undertake reasonable planned travel and offshore assignments, as required.
What We Offer
  • Career Development - with access to a range of learning and development opportunities, as well as being part of a culture that encourages growth and development.
  • Flexible Working - lots of our people work flexibly in different ways. Whether it's hybrid, part-time, or flexitime working, we can't promise to give you exactly what you want, but let's have a discussion to see how we can make it work.
  • Enhanced Maternity/Paternity Leave/Adoption Leave
  • A Fantastic Benefits Package - which includes a generous holiday allowance, pension scheme, discounted health and wellbeing packages, electric car salary sacrifice scheme, and more.
