The Sheffield Children's NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a highly skilled Paediatric Critical Care Consultant to join our team. As a key member of our Critical Care Unit, you will be responsible for providing expert clinical care to critically ill children and adolescents. Your main duties will include maintaining cover for PCCU, supporting Embrace, the regional paediatric critical care transport service, and contributing to the training of individuals in paediatrics, adult intensive care, and advanced nurse practitioners.
Main Responsibilities
As a Paediatric Critical Care Consultant, you will be expected to work flexibly within the rota, joining colleagues in providing on-call consultant cover for PCCU. You will have continuing responsibility for the patients in your care and for the proper functioning of the Critical Care Unit. Your duties will include assessing clinical situations and providing clinical advice on critical care remotely, as well as contributing to audit to effect change and applying research and audit findings to clinical practice to improve patient outcomes.

Person Specification
We are looking for a candidate with a strong background in Paediatric Intensive Care Medicine, with experience in leading clinical teams to deliver high-quality critical care in the in-patient setting. You should have the ability to offer expert clinical opinions in complex clinical cases, as well as experience in assessing clinical situations and providing clinical advice on critical care remotely. A management course and experience in quality improvement projects are desirable. You should also demonstrate a commitment to continuing your own professional development, leadership skills, and the ability to work harmoniously as part of a multi-disciplinary team.
