Solicitor - Housing Litigation Specialist

About the Role
Forbes Solicitors is seeking a highly skilled Solicitor to join our Housing and Regeneration Team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering successful outcomes in social housing tenancy and leasehold disputes. Your expertise will be essential in handling a varied case load, attending court hearings, and providing written and verbal advice to clients.
Key Responsibilities
• Handling a diverse caseload of social housing tenancy and leasehold disputes
• Attending court hearings, including County Court, Magistrates Court, and First-tier Tribunal
• Providing written and verbal advice to clients in litigated and non-litigated matters
• Communicating with clients, opponents, courts, and third parties to progress files
• Managing and supervising a team of Solicitors, Caseworkers, and Paralegals
• Ensuring compliance with internal and external business requirements
• Monitoring and reporting on financial and business performance
• Contributing to the development of the departmental business plan
• Building positive relationships with clients and enhancing the firm's profile
Requirements
• Qualified Solicitor (or CILEX equivalent) with minimum 2 years PQE
• Previous experience working in social housing litigation is essential
• Demonstrable experience conducting advocacy in courts or tribunals
• Higher Rights of Audience in the Civil Courts is advantageous
• Proven experience handling own caseload, working to deadlines, and generating fees
• Good knowledge of IT systems, including Word, Outlook, and case management systems
• Excellent organisational and communication skills
• Ability to work unsupervised and self-motivated
• Ability to supervise and manage others effectively
