About the Position

We are seeking an exceptional Wine Grape Research Scientist to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. This is a unique opportunity for a motivated and talented individual to contribute to cutting-edge research in wine grape production and physiology.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning, implementing, and analyzing field and laboratory research projects related to wine grape production. They will also develop and lead Extension programs to effectively communicate research findings to diverse stakeholder audiences.

Requirements
  • Ph.D. in food science, enology, fermentation science and technology, viticulture, horticulture, or a related field by appointment start date
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and implementing field or laboratory research
  • Record of peer-reviewed publications
  • Ability to effectively communicate Extension materials to a diverse stakeholder audience
Preferred Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience with wine grape and wine production, and/or grapevine physiology
  • Analytic quantification of flavor/aroma metabolites
  • One or more years of postdoctoral training/experience in a relevant field
  • Evidence of successful grantsmanship
  • Demonstrated ability to be an effective supervisor or team leader as demonstrated by prior supervisory experience
