About the Role


We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Metabolic Medicine Specialist to join our team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering a range of services, including a lysosomal storage disease service, joint provision for general IMD services for adults, and clinical support for the Cardiff Porphyria Service.


The ideal candidate will have broad general training in Clinical Biochemistry & Metabolic Medicine and clinical experience in adult inherited metabolic disease. They will also have a strong track record of effective team and multidisciplinary working, as well as evidence of participation in clinical audit and understanding of the role of audit in improving medical practice.


Main Duties



  • Deliver a lysosomal storage disease service
  • Joint provision for general IMD services for adults
  • Clinical support for the Cardiff Porphyria Service
  • Deliver a Cardiovascular risk and lipid service

Requirements



  • On GMC Specialist Register for specialty / Specialty Registrar with CCT/CESR (Combined Programme) due within 6 months of interview date
  • FRCPath or equivalent
  • MRCP or equivalent
  • Broad general training in Clinical Biochemistry & Metabolic Medicine
  • Clinical experience in adult inherited metabolic disease

What We Offer



  • Excellent Consultant contract for Wales
  • Basic salary range for this post is £63,600 per annum to £92,856 per annum for a 6-session commitment
