Job Overview

The Apprentice Leisure Operations Manager role at Brighton College is an exciting opportunity for a motivated and customer-focused individual to join our team. As a key member of the sport and science facilities department, you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of our leisure facilities.

Main Responsibilities

  1. Provide exceptional customer service to all users, creating a welcoming environment that promotes a positive experience.
  2. Promote and maintain a clean, safe, and comfortable environment for users, adhering to health and safety guidelines.
  3. Assist the Duty Manager with daily operations, including opening and closing procedures, to ensure seamless facility management.
  4. Collaborate with other team members to deliver consistent, high-quality service to users, fostering a positive team culture.
  5. Set up and clear away timetabled sessions promptly, ensuring efficient use of resources.
  6. Supervise pupil activities, guaranteeing a safe and enjoyable experience for all participants.
  7. Lifeguard the swimming pool, maintaining a safe environment and adhering to lifeguarding protocols.
  8. Perform cleaning duties as required, contributing to achieving the highest standards of presentation.
  9. Familiarize yourself with the College's Health & Safety Policy and its application to all site facilities.
  10. Complete any reasonable management requests, demonstrating adaptability and a willingness to learn.

Qualifications and Requirements

  • National Pool Lifeguard Qualification.
  • Level 3 Pool Plant Operator Certificate.
  • First Aid at Work.
  • Level 2 Functional Skills (English & Maths), if required.

  1. Customer-focused with a passion for delivering exceptional service.
  2. Self-motivated and organized, able to work effectively unsupervised.
  3. Interest and/or background in swimming or sports, with a strong desire to learn and grow.
  4. Good communication skills, both written and verbal, with a focus on providing clear information to users.
  5. Motivated to achieve new qualifications and develop your skills and knowledge.

Salary and Benefits

The successful candidate can expect a salary of £10 per hour for the first 12 months, followed by National Minimum Wage/National Living Wage dependant on age thereafter. Additionally, you will enjoy 30 hours of work per week, with opportunities for overtime, and 23 days of holiday plus bank holidays.
