Receptionist - Patient Liaison

About the Role
Woodlands Medical Practice is seeking a skilled and friendly Receptionist to join our team. As a Receptionist, you will be the first point of contact for patients and visitors, providing a warm and welcoming experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Greet and deal with all patients and visitors in a polite and courteous manner, ensuring a smooth flow of patients through the surgery.
- Make appointments for Doctors, Nurses, and other health professionals, ensuring accurate and timely scheduling.
- Answer incoming telephone calls in a professional and friendly manner, taking accurate messages and ensuring they are passed on to the relevant staff member.
- Take accurate messages for all surgery staff, making sure they are passed on as per protocol.
- Reschedule clinics if necessary, inform patients, and chase appointments and results as requested by the doctors.
- Take calls for the triage service as per protocol.
- Filing and scanning of paper correspondence, ensuring all documents are up to date and secure.
- Monitor the EMIS workflow for action on results and tasks, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
- Check Docman workflow and deal with any tasks sent to reception by the doctors.
- Scanning and processing of all patient correspondence, dealing with action when re-routed to reception.
- Monitor the waiting areas to ensure patients are sent to their appointments in order, and the patients are not kept waiting too long or forgotten.
- Process GMS1 (new patient registration) onto the computer, ensuring accurate and timely completion.
Person Specification
- Experience of working in a GP practice is desirable.
- Good communication and customer service skills are essential.
- Basic IT skills are desirable.
