About the Role

The Mintz Group is seeking a detail-oriented and highly motivated investigator to join its intellectual property team in London. As an investigator, you will be responsible for conducting in-depth research on trade marks, companies, and individuals across the world to help clients uncover intellectual property infringements, branding risks, and threats to their businesses.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research into trademarks, businesses, individuals, and electronic assets throughout the world to assist clients in branding and litigation decisions;
  • Dig into public records and data repositories, from trade mark, corporate, and press records, to complex litigation records and SEC filings;
  • Through telephone and other interviewing methods, elicit sensitive information from targets;
  • Possibly conduct other types of investigations, such as anonymous acquisitions of IP assets and site visits to survey goods on the market.
About You
  • Undergraduate degree from an accredited university;
  • Strong research and writing skills, and superior attention to detail;
  • Sophisticated knowledge of Microsoft Office (including Word and Excel);
  • English fluency and strong writing skills in English mandatory;
  • A very confident telephone manner and strong interpersonal skills, capable of communicating with a wide variety of audiences, including in particular the targets of investigations;
  • No knowledge of intellectual property law required.
Additional Nice-to-Haves
  • 1-3 years prior work/internship experience in research, journalism, research, or law;
  • Working proficiency in another language (particularly French, Spanish, and/or German) desired;
  • A knowledge of or interest in FMCGs, fashion/beauty, cryptocurrency, technology, or pharmaceuticals;
  • Experience with public records databases - for example, Factiva, DomainTools, or TraceIQ - and open source research.
