Amentum Project Planner Job Description

Amentum is a leading global technical and engineering services partner with a strong culture of safety and ethics. We are seeking an experienced Project Planner to join our Project Controls team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and scheduling functions within the Project Controls team, acting as the Planner on one of our major programmes. Key responsibilities include:

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and maintain the Programme Schedule, ensuring vertical and horizontal integration.
  2. Develop and ensure consistent application of the planning process, used to define, maintain, report, and control schedules at all levels of the Programme.
  3. Plan, schedule, coordinate, and oversee the work of all Project Controls activities at programme level.
  4. Identify interfaces and establish performance measurement baselines to record and track progress on schedules.
  5. Produce progress reports showing variance against the baselines.
  6. Lead and motivate a team of Project Planners, ensuring they have the required core competencies in the use of planning techniques.
  7. Provide expert input at planning workshops and represent time issues at programme level.
  8. Apply critical path & Schedule Risk Analysis.
  9. Support Project Managers and Project Planners in schedule development and in managing the alignment of scope, time, and cost.
  10. Oversee project schedule review meetings and ensure alignment and consistency with cost management function.
  11. Lead development of work breakdown structures and help ensure that project coding is effectively used for all cornerstone applications.

Requirements:

  1. Ideally degree qualified in engineering, construction, business, or related field, or demonstrated equivalent and related experience.
  2. Proven experience with engineering, procurement, and construction project. Ideally in Major Utilities or construction arena. With operating industrial facilities is advantageous.
  3. Solid and provable experience with cost, schedule responsibilities, and ability to perform detail-oriented work are required.

Skills:

  1. Knowledgeable and experienced utilizing and administering Oracle Primavera P6.
  2. Expert knowledge using Excel.
  3. Knowledge and experience utilizing Cost Management Tools (Costpoint, SAP, etc.).
  4. Working knowledge of word-processing and integrated software applications.
