Job SummaryWe are seeking a skilled Advocacy Counselor to join our team at GET STAFFED ONLINE RECRUITMENT LIMITED. As an Advocacy Counselor, you will be responsible for supporting individuals with disabilities and vulnerable populations in Sutton/Croydon/Surrey.
About the RoleThis is a full-time or part-time position available for up to 37 hours per week (Mon-Fri). The ideal candidate will have experience working with diverse client groups, excellent communication skills, and a valid driver's license. You will work from our office in Sutton/Croydon, covering areas including but not limited to those mentioned.
Responsibilities- Support clients to understand information, ensure their wishes, feelings, beliefs, needs, and values are considered.
- Travel to locations such as hospitals and care homes around Sutton/Croydon/Surrey to provide advocacy services.
- Check and challenge Local Authorities and/or professionals as appropriate to ensure they are acting in the best interest of the client.
- Promote empowerment, compassionate communication, and safeguarding concerns.
- Work in accordance with relevant legislation such as Mental Capacity Act, Mental Health Act, Care Act, DoLS, and Human Rights Act.
- IAQ qualified (including any specialist unit) or be willing to study for and obtain within 12 months of commencing employment.
- Previous experience of working as an advocate/working with a diverse range of vulnerable people.
- Kindness, compassion, good communication skills, and the ability to connect with others.
- Ability to communicate clearly in writing, verbally, and nonverbally, using a range of communication tools and methods.
- IT skills – a working knowledge of Word, Excel, Outlook, databases, and other relevant technology.
- Strong organisational skills.
- A valid driver's license and car as this role involves travel to clients.
