About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Speech and Language Therapist to join our team at Cardiff and Vale University Health Board. As a Speech and Language Therapist, you will provide enhanced support to pupils and staff at Ysgol y Deri Special School, through a school commissioned service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide Speech and Language Therapy support to pupils accessing early intervention provision, both in Ysgol y Deri and in additional sites.
  • Provide training to Ysgol y Deri staff to develop knowledge and skills to support pupils' speech, language and communication skills.
  • Provide Speech and Language Therapy to pupils who are not resident in the Cardiff and Vale Health Board area but attend Ysgol y Deri.
  • Provide Speech and Language Therapy to specific pupils, at the request of Ysgol y Deri and/or Local Authority and in agreement with NHS Speech and Language Therapy management, which has been directed by Education Tribunal.

Requirements

  • Speech and Language Therapy degree.
  • Professional registration - HCPC.
  • Experience of working with children with complex needs.
  • Experience of providing training to school staff.
  • Experience of multi-disciplinary working.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • Professional Registration - RCSLT.
  • Qualification in providing eating, drinking and swallowing assessment.
  • Significant relevant CPD.
  • Experience of working in line managing others.
  • Experience of completing ALN statutory duties.
