About the Position

Meteorologist at Millennium Management, LLC. We are seeking an expert Meteorologist to contribute to our team. You will work closely with the quant team to develop data-driven solutions for investment processes.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage large datasets from market and alternative data vendors.
  • Develop high-resolution NWP models for short-term power desks.
  • Collaborate with the quant team on weather-related projects.
  • Communicate and provide data insights to investment teams.
  • Write code to process, clean, and normalize unstructured and structured datasets.
  • Back test datasets to evaluate their correlation with company KPIs.
  • Work with the data sourcing team to identify new potential data products and vendors.
  • Design visualization dashboards to present key findings.

Requirements

  • Master's or Ph.D. degree in Meteorology, Statistics, Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, or related field.
  • At least 2+ years of experience working with meteorological variables, concepts, data providers, and industry standard practices.
  • Proficient in Python programming language.
  • Familiarity with weather data types, such as GRIB, NetCDF, and Zarr.
  • Expertise in writing SQL queries and hands-on experience with ETL processes.
  • Knowledge of high-resolution NWP modeling and data assimilation; experience with AI/ML techniques is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills.

Estimated Salary: $170,000 - $230,000 per year
