Commercial Excellence in Quantity Surveying

BAM Construct & Ventures UK is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our team in the Wellingborough Depot. This role will work closely with the Senior Quantity Surveyor, Commercial Manager, and Departmental Leads to ensure the commercial performance of our contracting departments.

As a key member of our team, you will support projects UK-wide and be expected to travel as required, based from our Wellingborough office. In addition to an attractive salary, we offer a contributory pension, 25 days holiday, gym subsidy, and BAM social club membership.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain high personal safety and environmental standards in accordance with Company policies
  • Manage subcontractors, including payments preparation, final account work, and inputting into dispute resolution
  • Monitor cost as part of budget and cost control
  • Produce monthly cost and value reports, quarterly reports, and present to senior management
  • Take part in discussions concerning project performance and provide commercial input to project strategy
  • Understand and promote usage of Company Procedures and suggest improvements
  • Ensure timely production of appropriate levels of applications for payments
  • Provide commercial advice to the site team and management on all contractual issues
  • Attend and provide input to all site commercial meetings
  • Manage time and workloads for yourself in a structured manner
  • Assist in delivery of commercial training to all staff
  • Provide input to risk management of projects and departments

Requirements

  • Qualification in Quantity Surveying or similar field desirable
  • Knowledge of standard forms of contract, including NEC and JCT
  • Good general commercial awareness
  • Knowledge of and experience in the UK Construction and Civils industry
  • Experience in establishing and delivering work programs and schedules
  • Hands-on experience in creating reporting and managing budgets
  • Excellent organizational and time-management skills
  • Outstanding communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to understand and work to BAM values
