We are seeking an experienced Medical Care Specialist to join our team on the Acute Ambulatory Care Unit (AACU) at our Manchester site.


Job Summary

We are looking for a skilled Medical Care Specialist to provide high-quality care to patients on the AACU. As a key member of our team, you will work closely with medical staff and other healthcare professionals to deliver safe and effective care.


Key Responsibilities

  • Taking individual responsibility for the nursing care of a group of patients as a registered nurse.
  • Providing a supportive role within the Acute Assessment Unit for nursing, medical, and clerical staff.
  • Undertaking the nursing care of patients, ensuring privacy and dignity is maintained while being aware of physical and psychological needs.
  • To give a clear and accurate update at change of duties and ensure accurate documentation of nursing interventions.
  • To participate in the emergency care of patients and give any necessary instructions, including transfer information.
  • Participating in nursing procedures appropriate to the department.
  • Supporting and assisting in the induction/training of junior staff/Health Care Assistants acting as mentor to designated staff.
  • To liaise with medical and para-medical personnel and community organisations.
  • To highlight areas of improvement/development within the department and undertake relevant projects.
  • To act as support for other ward nurses in relation to acute emergency care.
  • Assisting in the general housekeeping duties of the AAU.
  • Helping to maintain a safe environment and reporting faults/risks etc to the nurse in charge.
  • Handling patients' personal possessions, ensuring cash and valuables are kept securely as per policy.
  • Correct care and custody of controlled drugs and aiding the safe storage of medicines.
  • Assisting medical staff with procedures.
  • Completing Principles and Practice of Intravenous Skills Programme and Cannulation Skills Training and updating annually.
  • Annually attending all mandatory study days as per Trust and unit guidance.
Requirements

  • Demonstrating a pleasant and approachable manner and helping create and promote a good working relationship.
  • Show professional and courteous manner when answering the telephone and other inquiries.
  • To be aware of and adhere to all policies including; sickness and absence, confidentiality, uniform, and responsibilities under the Health and Safety at Work Act and be familiar with all risk assessments pertinent to the AAU.
  • Reporting and recording all accidents and complaints according to the agreed policy.

What We Offer

We offer a competitive salary of £32,306 - £43,041 per annum, depending on experience, plus benefits including a pension scheme, annual leave, and training opportunities.
