About the Role

We're seeking an experienced Senior AI Research Engineer to join our team. As a key member of our research group, you'll play a vital role in developing large-scale ML systems from scratch. Your expertise will be instrumental in creating safe, trustworthy, and steerable AI systems that can positively impact society.

Responsibilities
  • Design and develop large-scale ML systems with a focus on safety, interpretability, and steerability
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for improvement and implement solutions
  • Develop and maintain software infrastructure to support our research efforts
  • Conduct scientific experiments to validate research hypotheses and improve system performance
Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • Significant software engineering experience, preferably in machine learning or related fields
  • A results-oriented mindset with a bias towards flexibility and impact
  • The ability to pick up slack and take on additional responsibilities as needed
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with colleagues
Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience with high-performance, large-scale ML systems, GPUs, Kubernetes, PyTorch, or OS internals would be a plus. Additionally, familiarity with language modeling using transformers, reinforcement learning, or large-scale ETL would be valuable assets.

Compensation and Benefits
