Job Description:

We have an exciting opportunity for a highly skilled Technologist to join our Technology and Innovation team at Leonardo Helicopters in Yeovil. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for driving innovation and advancing manufacturing technologies, with a focus on composites.

As a Technologist, you will work closely with our manufacturing teams across composites, transmissions, assembly, and future manufacturing to identify and develop new technologies that will shape the future of our business. You will be expected to conduct research on key developments in the UK landscape on technologies and initiatives, and disseminate this understanding through ongoing engagement.

You will be part of a forward-looking group that has responsibility for setting the future technological pathways for our UK business and delivering them. This is in collaboration with colleagues from across our global Technology and Innovation network. We engage with external technology stakeholders and internal areas in order to shape and deliver our advanced projects.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Coordinating the delivery of exciting technology development activity and new initiatives for Advanced Manufacturing, with a focus on composites.
  • Collaborating with LH manufacturing teams across composites, transmissions, assembly, and future manufacturing.
  • Supporting the creation of Technology Roadmaps in order to inform decision making of investment into Advanced Manufacturing technologies.
  • Conducting research on key developments in the UK landscape on technologies and initiatives and disseminating this understanding through ongoing engagement.
  • Conducting technology scouting in the UK network in order to help build key future relationships and consortiums and inform business decision making.
  • Having direct involvement in key business aspects such as funding scouting, proposal creation, business case development, and budget submissions.
  • Managing the composite engagement and research with the UK Catapult Centers and taking an active role in the research committees.
