The Mercedes-AMG Petronas Formula One Team is a dynamic organization driven by passionate and determined individuals who strive to design, develop, manufacture, and race cars that excel on the world stage.

Our team operates in various functions, including Operations, Technical, Race, and Business Support, all working towards our ultimate goal of building the greatest team in Formula One history.

We are seeking an experienced engineer to join our Research and Development (R&D) team in a facility support role. The primary responsibilities of this position will be to ensure the continuous reliable operation and ongoing improvement of our R&D testing facilities, specifically our Dynos and T&D Labs.

This role requires strong technical expertise, effective communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across different departments to deliver results.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Providing first-line technical support for rig enquiries and faults within our R&D facilities
  • Owning the Failure Mode Effects Analysis (FMEA) process to identify and proactively manage risks to our operational efficiency
  • Maintaining facility-side mechanical and electrical schematics, ensuring clarity and accessibility for design, engineering, and operations teams
  • Investigating, planning, and delivering improvements to dyno and T&D plant equipment
  • Funding requirements and developing specifications for capability upgrade programmes
  • Taking responsibility for fault analysis and resolution on facility-side matters, using root cause analysis to implement immediate containments and long-term countermeasures
  • Developing relationships with external suppliers and contractors for test beds and rigs
  • Liaising with Mercedes High Performance Powertrains (HPP) to ensure aligned approaches on facility operation, identifying efficiencies and sharing best practices
  • Owning software licensing and calibration processes within R&D facilities
  • Proactively building links with electronics, controls, and technology engineering departments to share experiences and optimize resource allocation

Candidate Profile:

The ideal candidate will possess:

  • Strong collaboration and negotiation skills
  • Ability to read and produce engineering drawings, mechanical schematics, and electrical schematics
  • Demonstrated ability to take responsibility for maintenance and system fault resolution
  • Curiosity, commitment to continuous learning, and adaptability to change

Desirable skills and qualifications include:

  • Previous experience in dyno and/or experimental test bed environments
  • Practical knowledge of transmission, hydraulic, cooling, and electrical systems
  • Strong electrical diagnostic capabilities
  • Analysis of live and logged data to draw conclusions about component and system health
  • Demonstrable experience working in high-performance engineering environments
  • Experience delivering experimental results under fast-paced programmes with immovable deadlines
  • Ability to creatively present data in formats accessible to a wide range of stakeholders and business areas
