About the Role

We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Materials Operative to join our team at Hitachi Rail Limited. As a key member of our materials team, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the smooth receipt, storage, and distribution of goods and materials.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist the materials team with the control of goods inwards, delivery booking, and goods receiving.
  • Prepare warranty parcels and arrange collection with courier services.
  • Maintain the safe and efficient storage of materials and ensure a high level of housekeeping.
  • Input materials data into our company's system to maintain accurate stock levels and delivery information.
  • Maintain material returns as required, including quarantined or returned items.
  • Assist with the purchasing of materials, spares, equipment, tools, and associated services to ensure timely delivery.
  • Operate company equipment, such as forklifts and cranes, in a safe and responsible manner.
  • Assist with the management of the calibration process and ensure all tools are calibrated to the correct standard.
  • Liaise with internal and external personnel to complete duties as required.
Requirements
  • Good written and verbal communication skills.
  • Able to represent Hitachi Rail in a professional manner at all times.
  • Good team worker with the ability to interface effectively with all levels of personnel.
Desirable Qualifications
  • Depot Induction training.
  • Manual handling techniques.
  • Current and valid counterbalance FLT license.
  • Current and valid overhead crane certificate.
  • Intermediate IT skills, including Word, Excel, Equinox, and SAP.
  • Clean and valid driving license.
