Ecological Project Specialist

At AtkinsRéalis, we're committed to delivering innovative and award-winning projects that benefit our clients, biodiversity, and society. As an experienced Ecologist, you'll play a key role in helping us design and apply new approaches to our work.
We're seeking a highly skilled Ecologist to join our Birmingham office and contribute to our Midlands and North Ecology Practice. With a strong background in ecology and project management, you'll be responsible for managing project programmes and budgets, planning and undertaking field surveys, and analysing and interpreting survey results.
You'll also provide support and mentorship to other team members, particularly early careers staff, and build and maintain strong working relationships with team, colleagues, clients, and external bodies. Additionally, you'll be responsible for supporting the development of a portfolio of ecological work in the Midlands by building a network with both internal and external clients within the region and UK-wide.
As part of our Infrastructure team, you'll use innovation, new approaches, and data to help our clients deliver end-to-end projects and programmes for essential future infrastructure. You'll have the opportunity to contribute to nationally significant and high-profile projects, with many of our projects winning awards for biodiversity enhancements, innovation, and knowledge sharing.
We offer a competitive salary of £60,000 - £80,000 per annum, depending on experience, plus a range of benefits, including flexible working arrangements, employee networks, and opportunities for professional development.
To be successful in this role, you'll need a degree in ecology or a closely related field, demonstrable project management experience, and strong botanical skills, including Field Identification Skills Certificate (FISC) or equivalent. You'll also need a Level 1 or Level 2 survey licence for bats and working knowledge and experience of UK Habitat survey, habitat condition assessments, and the Defra Biodiversity Metric.
