Security Systems Operator

About the Role
The Security Systems Operator will be part of a 24-hour team working in the Security Operations Centre on a shift basis. This role involves operating and maintaining surveillance equipment for evidence of crimes, trespass, monitoring of station-based alarms, and gathering intelligence for police forces.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinating the delivery and collection of CCTV/BWC footage, prioritizing workload, and ensuring efficient use of time.
- Securing all primary evidence by downloading CCTV/BWC footage required and producing Master and Working copies as evidential exhibits.
- Applying forensic controls to all evidence produced, including packaging, exhibiting, and witness statements.
- Responding to alarm activations, checking the validity of the alarm, and instigating the required response.
- Reporting and managing any system faults to the appropriate department/contractor in line with internal processes.
- Maintaining a log of all incidents occurring during each shift, preparing weekly and periodic reports, and keeping accurate records.
- Troubleshooting and fault-finding for any malfunctioning equipment, reporting issues to the relevant internal department or contractor.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will need to be self-motivated, able to exercise initiative and discretion, and have excellent customer service skills. You should also have experience in an office environment, be proficient in the Office 365 suite of applications, and have a working knowledge of the GWR network and industry systems such as TRUST, Web Gemini, and Integrale.
Working Environment
The Security Systems Operator will be required to work in the Security Operations Centre in Swindon, with some requirement to work at stations, depots, and on trains throughout the GWR Network. The shift pattern covers 24 hours on a 3-shift basis with weekends included.
