About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to lead our mathematics department in a specialist Social, Emotional, and Mental Health (SEMH) setting in Liverpool. As a SEN Maths Learning Lead, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality mathematics lessons, developing individualised learning plans, and adapting teaching strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.

Your Key Responsibilities:

  1. Leading Mathematics Department: Oversee the mathematics department, providing leadership and guidance to ensure high-quality teaching and learning.
  2. Lesson Delivery: Deliver engaging and differentiated mathematics lessons to students with SEMH needs, promoting academic growth and emotional well-being.
  3. Learning Planning and Adaptation: Develop tailored learning plans and adjust teaching approaches to meet the diverse needs of students.
  4. Classroom Environment: Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment that supports students' social, emotional, and academic development.
  5. Collaboration and Communication: Work effectively with other members of the school community to provide comprehensive support for students, including SENCOs, support staff, and parents/guardians.
  6. Behaviour Management: Implement behaviour management strategies and techniques to address challenging behaviours and support students in developing self-regulation skills.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS): Possess qualified teacher status or equivalent teaching qualification.
  • Specialisation in Mathematics: Have a strong understanding of the subject curriculum and specialisation in Mathematics.
  • Experience in SEMH Settings: Have experience working with students with SEMH needs or in similar SEN environments.
  • Knowledge of Teaching Strategies: Possess knowledge of effective SEMH teaching strategies and interventions.
  • Professional Development: Commit to ongoing professional development and be willing to learn new approaches.
