Aerospace Safety Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and non-bureaucratic health and safety professional to support the delivery of the health and safety management system as a member of the Wellbeing, Safety and Health Service.
This full-time post is appointed at a service level and will be based on campus, supporting and delivering health and safety risk management initiatives across the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences.
You will report into the Senior Health and Safety Manager to the faculty and the Faculty of Environment.
The role will require you to provide effective and proportionate advice, use your previous experience of delivering a safety management system to include training, auditing and the implementation of integrated electronic systems.
You will also undertake inspections of research and teaching laboratories, deliver face-to-face training to Faculty Staff and Postgraduate Students, attend School and Faculty meetings, as well as help Staff and Students with their risk assessments.
You need to be able to work collaboratively with a range of academic and professional services colleagues.
The successful candidate will have the ability to apply their health and safety knowledge into safe working practices for a complex environment which includes teaching and research laboratories, workshops and a range of off-campus activities.
This includes some sensitive and commercial research areas. You also need to be able to advise on offsite working including UK and international travel and seasonal scientific fieldwork.
