About the Role

Are you passionate about delivering exceptional customer service and making a positive impact in your community? We are seeking an experienced Customer Services Assistant to join our team at Essex County Council.

This is a part-time position, working 28 hours per week, with a pro-rata salary of £17,666 per annum. The successful candidate will be required to work Saturday shifts and travel throughout the local area, including visits to Brentwood and Shenfield libraries.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supporting customers with book circulation and issuing, as well as signposting them to relevant services and resources.
  • Delivering Rhymetime sessions for families with babies and toddlers, promoting early literacy and childhood development.
  • Assisting with promotional activities, such as generating income through library services and events.
  • Ensuring seamless stock circulation and management, including sorting, shelving, and handling reservations and membership activities.
Requirements
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage with diverse customer groups.
  • Able to work independently and as part of a team, with a flexible approach to working hours.
  • Basic IT skills, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies.
  • Possession of a driving license (desired).
