Senior IT Engineer Job Description

Job Title: Senior IT Engineer

Salary: £35,000 - £40,000 (depending on experience)

Location: Sheffield

Contract: Permanent, Full time

Verus Recruitment is partnering with a local MSP to find a Senior IT Engineer to join their dynamic team. As a key member of the team, you will drive impactful projects, work with cutting-edge technologies, mentor engineers, and contribute to diverse IT initiatives.

You will balance hands-on technical work with strategic oversight, including designing and optimising IT infrastructure and managing large-scale projects. Your role will play a key part in ensuring system security, streamlining processes, and delivering high-quality client solutions while maintaining strong compliance and documentation standards.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Lead the design, implementation, and optimization of IT systems, including networks, servers, telephony, and cloud solutions.
  • Manage IT projects from start to finish, ensuring timely delivery within scope and budget.
  • Ensure IT systems comply with security standards and regulations to protect client data.
Requirements:
  • At least 5 years of experience in IT infrastructure and networking, ideally within an MSP environment.
  • Strong proficiency in a variety of IT technologies, including Windows and Linux servers, virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), networking (Unifi, Zyxel, Draytek), and cloud platforms like AWS, Azure, and 365.
  • A degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Business, or a related field is preferred. Advanced certifications such as CCNP, MCSE, or AWS Certified Solutions Architect are a plus.
