An exciting opportunity has arisen for a highly skilled and experienced Biomedical Scientist to join our team at Oxleas NHS Foundation Trust. As a Senior Biomedical Scientist, you will play a key role in the management of our Haematology Laboratory, working closely with the laboratory manager and clinical team to deliver a high-quality, efficient, and effective service.
Main Duties- Work with the laboratory manager to implement and deliver a comprehensive quality assurance program, ensuring compliance with UKAS standards and national legislation.
- Assist in the development and implementation of new methods and technologies, including laboratory equipment and Pathology information management systems.
- Contribute to the development and maintenance of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the department, utilizing the Document Management Module of the Q-Pulse system.
- Participate in audit and evaluation activities, including clinical and information governance, to ensure the highest standards of quality and patient safety.
- Collaborate with the clinical team to provide scientific advice and support, ensuring the delivery of high-quality patient care.
- Manage and provide action plans to resolve nonconformities identified by internal and external audits or complaints, ensuring the completion of corrective and preventative actions.
- Communicate verbally and in written reports the results of scientific investigations to clinicians and other healthcare professionals.
- Participate in evidence-based training and maintain a level of knowledge to fulfill this role through Continual Professional Development (CPD) for retention of HCPC Registered Biomedical Scientist status.
We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced Biomedical Scientist with a strong background in Haematology and laboratory management. The ideal candidate will have:
- A Master's degree or related professional healthcare qualification (Fellow of Institute of Biomedical Scientist (IBMS) or Chartered Scientist) or equivalent.
- Completed an IBMS Higher Specialist Diploma (HSD) or equivalent.
- BSc in Biomedical Sciences or equivalent and demonstrable experience at Specialist BMS level.
- HCPC BMS Registrant.
- Extensive working experience in Biomedical Science at an advanced level.
- Track record of working without supervision.
- Audit and evaluation, clinical & information governance.
