Postdoctoral Research Scientist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Postdoctoral Research Scientist to join our team at Economicsnetwork, working on a project focused on Genomics of Sepsis. The successful candidate will be based at our research facility and will be part of an interdisciplinary team working on cutting-edge research in functional genomics and susceptibility to complex disease.
Key Responsibilities:
- Analyse large datasets arising from the project, including NGS, qPCR, and RNA-seq data, as well as electronic health records.
- Develop novel methodologies for analysis and data collection, informatics structures to manage large datasets, and machine learning models for patient stratification.
- Produce high-quality scientific reports and publications for top-tier journals, including taking leadership in specialized publications on novel aspects of bioinformatics.
- Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team, including close liaison with members of the research group and external collaborators.
- Create, test, and use relevant computer code, maintain and distribute completed software, and apply computational and statistical methodologies and algorithms.
Requirements:
- Hold a PhD/DPhil in Bioinformatics, Statistical Genetics, Statistics, Mathematics, Physics, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
- Demonstrable interest in the research described here.
- Experience of computational genomics and/or bioinformatics, together with functional genomic analysis.
- Strong publication record with evidence of a high level of self-motivation and ambition.
- Experience of, and demonstrated competence in, scientific computing using at least one programming language.
- Excellent analytical and quantitative skills with a proven ability to think critically about scientific analysis to ensure robust results.
