Job Title: Education Assistant - Special Needs

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Education Assistant to join our team at School of Special Educational Needs: Medical and Mental Health. As an Education Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the delivery of educational programs to students with complex needs.

About the Role

As a Special Needs Education Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide quality education to students whose physical or mental health presents difficulties in accessing their usual educational program. You will be responsible for supporting the delivery of planned educational programs, contributing to the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment, and assisting teachers in understanding students' needs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the delivery of educational programs to students with complex needs
  • Contribute to the preparation and maintenance of the learning environment
  • Assist teachers in understanding students' needs and developing individualized education plans
  • Work collaboratively with teachers and other support staff to ensure a cohesive and effective educational program
  • Provide support to students with medical and mental health needs, including administering medication and providing emotional support
Requirements
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills, including the ability to work as part of a team
  • Good organizational skills, including the ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
  • Ability to work with students with a range of abilities and needs
  • Knowledge of health and physical disabilities in students and adolescents
