About the Role

The Principal Examiner is a critical role in ensuring the quality and consistency of our assessments. As a senior member of our team, you will be responsible for maintaining the standards of our externally assessed units and modules, and ensuring that our examiners are properly trained and supported.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee the standardization of examiners and ensure that the standards of our assessments are maintained.
  • Update the mark scheme and guidance to reflect actual candidate responses and feedback from supervisors and examiners.
  • Lead meetings and participate in others, such as appeals against results and post-series reviews.
  • Select and mark items for validity, and prepare and collate materials for standardization.
  • Support supervisors and examiners, and monitor the progress of our assessment team.

Requirements

  • Experience and knowledge of quality assurance and assessment practice.
  • History of moderation and/or marking a regulated qualification.
  • Proven ability to provide and coordinate training, such as standardization and other standards-related activities.
  • A comprehensive knowledge of the specification for your specialist sector, including internal and external requirements.
